The United States Coast Guard MLC Atlantic intends to issue a purchase order with Fairbanks Morse Engines for parts to overhaul the center section of the CGC Seneca, a Class 270B foot WMEC. Award will be made in accordance with FAR Part Part 6.302-1 (b) (1) (ii) – only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Fairbanks Morse Engines is the only company that has the technical proprietary data necessary to manufacture the required parts. The CGC SENECA needs these parts in order to repair their engine so they can perform their mission of drug enforcement, migrant interdiction, and law enforcement in the New England area waterways. The requirement will be awarded using Simplified Acquisition procedures per FAR Part 13. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, the Government will consider all information received by 4:00pm EST 04/15/08. A determination by the Government not to compete as a result of quotes received is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
