This acquisition is to procure native grass and forb seed for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) fee owned and easement land in association with the Chief Joseph Dam and developed wildlife mitigation areas along Rufus
Woods Lake. Following the 2012 wildfires, valuable shrub-steppe and ponderosa pine ecosystems were heavily degraded. Degradation of the landscape allows for increased erosion and sediment development, a decrease in biodiversity and increased infestations of non-native plant communities. In 2013 native seed was purchased to restore the disturbed land and ultimately rebuild the ecosystem. Periodic replenishment of native seed is essential to improving and maintaining the ecosystems natural condition.
The Contractor shall provide 420 pounds of pure live seed (PLS) grass seed mix and 120 PLS forbs mix. All seed shall be conditioned to meet minimum viability, purity, seed moisture, weed seed and noxious weed seed standards. Native
seeds must conform to the requirements specified.
