As part of the construction of the Sandy Springs City Center, the City included construction of a large buried cistern that could independently separate and manage “dirty water” from parking lots and “clean water” from the roof. It is a cast-in-place units prefabricated modular concrete cistern manufactured by StormTrap that includes a two-chamber vault (i.e., one for dirty water and one for clean water) and a transfer box. The City desires to periodically drain the vaults to facilitate inspection and maintenance. It is therefore necessary to install an inflow water diversion (by-pass) system so that the vaults can remain drained for a few days while the vaults are inspected, cleaned, and/or repaired. The City developed a conceptual-level design and a cost estimate for the by-pass system, ideally while causing minimal disruption of the developed above-ground infrastructure.
