***The sole source determination is based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) requirement for a compact, sealed, alignment-free Ti:Sapphire laser optimized for use as a laser amplifier at 759 nm. Through market research, NIST has identified other companies that make standard Ti:Sapphire lasers, but M Squared Lasers is the only vendor known that offers a compact, sealed, "alignment-free" Ti:Sapphire laser customized to be suitable as a laser amplifier, has output power that will exceed 1.9W with 8W of incident pump laser power, and is capable of meeting the requirement of operating without a birefringent tuning plate (BRF) and without an optical diode. Delivery date shall be 110 days ARO.
***This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation package is available. However, firms that believe they can provide equipment that fully meets the Government's requirements may submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact within 15 days after publication of this synopsis. Such documentation will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to conduct a competitive procurement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
