The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, supplies, services, permits and licenses necessary to perform Yarding, Chipping and the Removal of down woody material and performing Rehabilitation on disturbed soils to reduce the potential of soil erosion on the Almanor Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest, Tehema County CA within the Cub Fire burn area.
The Contractor is required to yard-down woody material (3.0â to 24.0â diameter, large end) to landings. Woody material has been previously cut and decked along dozer/fireline and roads. Yarded material will be chipped and removed as product from government land. The remaining woody material that can not be yarded or does not make product, including; limbs, root wads, and non-merchantable material will be positioned or scattered over disturbed soils to reduce the potential of soil erosion in areas where fireline construction and areas of DFPZ (Defensible Fuel Profile Zone) were created in conjunction with Cub Fire suppression activities. Woody material that can not be chipped or used as erosion control will be piled in the landing for future burning. Water bars will be constructed to specification after skidding/yarding has been completed. Construct earthen/woody material barriers to eliminate vehicle access to dozer/fireline, skid trails, and temporary roads.
Skid and process whole trees into chips. Spread root wads, limbs, and non-merchantable woody material over areas of disturbed soil created for dozer/fireline. Construct water bars to specifications along the dozer/fireline and barricade vehicle access to dozer/fireline, skid trails, and temporary roads.
