-Microarray chips must be compatible with our existing Affymetrix 3000 genotyping instrument. 

- Microarray chips must be specifically designed for studies ofDNA/sequence detection and re-sequencing oftargeted genes. 

- Microarray chips must contain DNA/gene sequences ofour choice. 

- High density photolithographic microarray chips must be able to contain 2.5 million probes. T

This award includes multiple steps to design and produce the custom designed microarray chips for our projects. Some ofthe steps depend on data collected using microarray chips designed in the first year ofthe project (e.g., the 'first generation' chips). The 'second generation' set microarray chips will be modified based on the data obtained from validation experiments using the first generation chips. Therefore, the 'second generation' microarrays will not be created until the second year ofthe award.
