The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a sole source purchase order with Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) for the continuation of monthly satellite services for seventy five (75) existing telephones. MSV provides the direct source for the satellite services and manage all aspects of the telephone services for FHWA. The satellite phones are a part of FHWA’s Emergency Prepardness Plan. It is vital to FHWA that the satellite phone numbers and the services remain uninterrupted. The FHWA will not be requiring additional equipment nor new equipment for the satellite phones. Because MSV is the only known source who can provide the satellite network service directly without interruption they are the only known source for the satellite phones. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is March 21, 2003.
