The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) seeks to increase the current level of effort under Contract PBGC01-CT-02-0630. The contract includes the analysis, development and maintenance programming of approximately 16 PBGC custom-designed software applications. This is a continuation of work already undertaken by the existing provider. The increase in the level of effort is to accommodate the increase in workload resulting from the recent trusteeship of several small and large pension plans which has placed unforeseen demands on the efficiency and responsiveness of PBGC systems. In view of the provider's familiarity with the complexities of PBGC, extensive systems experience with PBGC's environment, and the time already spent in learning the work and PBGC policies and procedures, it is PBGC's belief that it would be in our best interest for the current provider to continue performing the work under the contract. This increase under the existing contract will ensure continuity of the work. This is not a request for proposal. See Note 22.
