The Deputy Director for the Regional Peace and Governance Office (RPGO) is the senior level specialist (GS-14) and reports to the Director of USAID/West Africa’s (WA) RPGO. The RPGO Deputy Office Director serves as the alter ego of the Office Director and will be expected to perform most of the functions of the Office Director in his/her absence with limited supervision. The RPGO Team is composed of two Foreign Service Officers (FSOs), two US-TCN personal service contractors, and three Foreign Service Nationals (FSN) based in Accra, as well as RPGO-funded staff in several USAID client Missions/Operating Units (Chad, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Cameroon). The RPGO portfolio is funded at approximately $15 million annually and supports the Trans-Sahara Counter-terrorism Partnership (TSCTP) and the Early Warning and Response Partnership, a Presidential initiative. The incumbent may be assigned to manage newly-designed, cutting-edge P/CVE programs and contribute directly to USAID's RPGO learning agenda. S/he assists the Office Director with broad, regional engagement and representational duties with regard to the inter-agency, regional organizations, and West African national governments.
