The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Centers for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order, to the National Academy of Aciences (NAS), 2101 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20418.  the authority for this sole source procurement is FAR 13.106-1.  The Contractor shall, unless otherwise specified, support the development of a Forum on Global Violence Prevention, placing the emphasis on violence prevention in low - and middle-income countries.  The Forum would be composed of 20 to 25 appointed individuals drawn from a range os US and foreign governmental agencies, international organizations, academia, foundations, and affected industries.  These events would bring together leading violence prevention researchers and practitioners for the purpose of raising awareness about the problem and developing solutions.  The proceedings would be summarized in a series of wrokshop reports.  NAS has the experience and expertise on the subject matter.  This is NOT a request for competitive proposals.  Firms that believe they can provide the serices are encouraged to identify themselves and give a written notification to the Contracting Officer within 5 days of the publication date of this synopsis.  A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action is based on responses to this notice is solely within the descretion of the Government.  Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining to conduct a competitive procurement.  Inquires may be sent to Richard Jenkins by e-mail a [email protected] .
