Section 1: Information
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and the University of California Berkeley are developing the next generation cosmic microwave background (CMB) detectors. These are arrays of up to 500 superconducting microwave antennas with 2000 transition edge sensor bolometers. In series with each bolometer is an LC resonator, a cluster of which feed a SQUID readout amplifier. A typical module size is 250 mm diameter x 200 mm tall. The entire module when fully wired is operated at 100 mK.

A few constraints that will impact the requirements are the size of an RF shielded room, earthquake safety, and a deadline to include our technology in a proposal for a major new CMB experiment.

General Information
•The unit will be installed in a general laboratory environment. No vibration mitigation is in place.
•The following types of power are available: 120v/240v 1 phase 60 Hz; 120v/208v 3 phase 60 Hz
•City water is available for cooling
•Compressed air is available for gas handling operation
•The dilution fridge will be housed in a RF shielded room of dimensions 10 ft. x 10 ft. x 9 ft. 5 in. high. A minimum 2 ft. access area is required on all four sides.
•LBNL is in a seismically active zone. LBNL will be responsible for bolting equipment to the floor. The vendor supplied stand for the refrigerator must survive 1 G lateral and vertical accelerations.
•LBNL requires all electrical equipment, components, conductors and other items to be certified by Underwriters Lab or other Nationally Recognized Testing. If this cannot be provided by the vendor, LBNL will use a third party to provide the required assurances. The cost of this will part of evaluating the vendor's proposal.
