The Agricultural Marketing Service requests industry comments on the draft updates to the Chicken Parts, Frozen Federal Purchase Program Specification (FPPS). Updates include the WOG range for the cut-up, replacing the kosher cut-up with a new product kosher leg quarters, an allowance for a thigh or drumstick added to the leg quarters to complete weight, increasing the date processed from 60 to 90 days, allowing an alternative to verify carcass weight, expansion of UPC codes to identify primary and secondary containers, adding contractor checkloading, and the vendor option allowing either grading or auditing certification.
