THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY and a SOLICITATION IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. This notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of the Government. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals. The USDA, ARS, Grape Genetic Research Unit (GGRU) in Geneva, New York has a requirement for an Advanced electrophoresis system and fragment analyzer to support ongoing research in grapevine genetics.  The unit will be used to replace a failing gel electrophoresis and imaging system which is typically used for daily validation of molecular techniques.  In an effort to increase efficiency, GGRU will pursue a combined electrophoresis, imaging, and nucleic acid quality evaluating system.  Submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary. The government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred associated to this request for capability information. The Eastern Business Service Center (EBSC) is issuing this sources sought request as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to provide the supervision, labor, materials, plant, equipment, and supplies necessary to provide the aforementioned product for GGRU. The result of this market research will contribute to determining whether there are adequate sources are available from which to receive competitive proposals.

Minimum Characteristics:

Reduced time needed for gel runs to allow for greater efficacy of analysis  (<10 min).

Built in gel capillary system and imaging system to record research results without the need of external camera equipment.

Integrated software for DNA and RNA quality checking ability.

Ability to resolve modest length differences for fragment analysis (~5 bp).
