This is a synopsis prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures.  This is a Notice of Intent.  This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.

The announcement number for this acquisition is NIH-OD3330471 and is being issued under the authority of FAR Subpart 6.302-1, 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1)  Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.  The anticipated award date is April 18,2014. This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).  The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 423450 which has a size dollar standard of 100.

The National Institutes of Health, Office of the Director, Office of Logistics and Acquisitions Operations, on the behalf of Division of Veterinary Resources intends to procure on a sole source basis from 3M Health Care a 5XL Ethylene Sterilizer.  The Sterilizer provides effective low temperature sterilization .The new sterilizer must be compatible with existing units in the facility which will allow for efficiencies when replacing cartridges and accessories. The unit does not have external lines or tanks involved in operation. The unit has the same gas cartridges that allows for the same cartridges used for the previous ethylene oxide sterilizer. It would be cost effective to obtain from 3M due to the existing cartridges from previous unit and its compatibility from existing units within the lab.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses submitted. 

 Responses must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST), April 18, 2014.
