The purpose of this contract is to perform precommercial thinning on 481 acres of conifer reproduction, approximately 19 to 26 years old. The project area is located on the north end of Prince of Wales Island in the Red Bay area, Southeast Alaska. Prince of Wales Island is part of the Thorne Bay and Craig Ranger District on the Tongass National Forest. The approximate mileage from Thorne Bay to the Red Bay area is 78 miles along FDR 20. The performance period is 97 days. The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps website on or about February 24, 2004 for viewing and printing. Potential offerors are requested to download the solicitation from the Internet if at all possible. Alternatively, a hard copy of the solicitation documents may be requested via fax at 907.228.6254. Fax requests should reference solicitation KTN-04-17. Telephone requests will not be honored. Offers will be due approximately 30 calendar days after the solicitation issue date.
