The purpose and intent of this contract is to secure services for pre-commercial thinning of approximately 1291 acres of conifer reproduction, approximately 19 to 33 years old. All items are on south Tuxekan Island. Tuxekan Island is part of the Thorne Bay Ranger District, Tongass National Forest, Alaska and is about 2 miles west of Prince of Wales Island. Access to Tuxekan Island is by boat or landing craft from the community of Naukati or by seaplane. The approximate mileage from Thorne Bay to Naukati is 44 miles. The contract time is 135 days.

The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps website on or about May 26, 2005 for viewing and printing. Potential offerors are requested to obtain the solicitation from the Internet if at all possible. Alternatively, a hard copy of the solicitation documents may be requested via fax at 907.228.6254. Fax requests should reference solicitation R10-05-05-27. Telephone requests will not be honored. Offers will be due approximately 30 calendar days after the solicitation issue date.
