The intent of this contract is to secure services for Mechanical Tree Thinning and Mastication on 229 acres for fire hazard reduction and forest health. A Feller Buncher shall be used to whole tree yard, whole tree stack, utilization of yarded material and disposal of unmerchantable material. In addition, 38 acres will be masticated to treat small diameter trees and brush. The work is located on the Foresthill Ranger District, Tahoe National Forest. From Foresthill travel northwest 4 miles to Baker Ranch. Turn south on the Michigan Bluff road for 2 miles to the Lower Chicken Hawk road. Turn west and travel 1 miles into the project area. Work is also located at the Foresthill Genectics Center five miles from Foresthill. Estimated start work date August 30, 2004, contract time 120 days.
