The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Environmental Health, Division of Laboratory Sciences, intends to award a  Brand Name firm-fixed price contract for Fluxion Ionflux Mecury 16 Automated Patch Clamp System.

The statutory authority for this sole source acquisition is U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1) in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. The NAICS code for this procurement is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, size standard 1,000.

This acquisition is required because  it is an automated patch clamp system that fits within our budget and has a benchtop footprint small enough to fit in the limited area designated in the lab (24” x 24”). Other patch clamp systems are too large or out of the defined price range. This is also the only benchtop patch clamp system that performs single-cell Gig-Ohm seal measurements, uses microfluidics, and has an integrated computer to reduce overall instrument footprint. The purpose of procuring this specific patch clamp system is to allow for advanced capability by allowing laboratorians to use specialty plates containing both cells and toxins of interest to measure cellular toxicity, increasing the speed and sample throughput of our methods, ultimately allowing more samples to be run during a potential exposure event. This system also increases laboratorian safety by eliminating the need for pipetting and washing of potentially harmful agents from the microplate, reducing potential laboratorian exposure. Finally, this is the only system that can be incorporated into our liquid handling Tecan robot for potential high throughput automation.

Interested parties who believe they possess the capability to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their ability to meet the requirement. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All responses should be emailed to Mr. Philip Robinson at [email protected] using solicitation number 75D301-20-Q-72194 in the subject line no later than 9:00 AM Eastern Standard Time, July 24, 2020.
