Introduction:

The Japan District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been tasked to perform market research and solicit the interest of prospective offeror(s) for a forthcoming Design-Bid-Build (DBB) requirement entitled, “FY20 O&M DoDEA Zukeran Elementary School Demolition, Camp Foster MCB, Okinawa, Japan”.  This announcement constitutes a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE and will ONLY be used for preliminary planning purposes.  The intent of this notice is to gauge interest, capabilities and experience of members of the Construction Community to identify sources capable of performing the required work and assist in the Government’s acquisition planning.   THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS.  The Government will not pay for any information provided in response to this notice.  This market survey is intended for local sources only.  Local sources are those sources physically located and licensed to conduct business in Japan.  Firms interested and capable of performing this work are highly encouraged to submit a response (submission requirements are located within this notice).

Project Title: FY20 O&M DoDEA Zukeran Elementary School Demolition

Project Location: Camp Foster MCB, Okinawa, Japan

Project NAICS: 238910, Site Preparation Contractors

Project Magnitude: Between ¥500,000,000 and ¥1,000,000,000 Japanese YEN

Project Description:  The project will demolish buildings 22, 23, 24, 25, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 41R for a total of approximately 8,171 Square Meters of facilities associated with existing Zukeran Elementary School.  The majority of the existing facilities are poured reinforced concrete structures on spread footing foundations that were constructed in 1957 and have exceeded their service life.  Mitigation for hazardous materials will be required for the existing buildings to be demolished for asbestos and/or lead based paint containing materials.  Demolition also includes site utility removal, site work and restoration. 

Procurement method: The Japan District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers anticipates the release of an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for this project.  Any solicitations pursued will be intended for local sources only.  See information in the Introduction section of this announcement regarding local sources.

5.  Any comments that will increase your level of interest and participation in this project
