Background: The lagoons currently are unable to function as originally designed. There is vegetation, primarily cattails, growing in the south secondary and tertiary ponds that is causing damage and limiting the effectiveness of the lagoons’ function. Air Force policies governing the current contaminant (PFOS/PFOA) situation prohibit the base from discharging out of the lagoon system.
