The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) intends to issue a sole source modification to an existing contract for gravity gradiometers under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The modification to this contract will add two additional options totaling 27 months to the period of performance and incorporate requirements for field operations into the scope. These field operations support test, evaluation, and enhancement of gradiometer system performance. The total value of this change is approximately $650,000. This contract is for the continued support (e.g. repairs, testing, and technical support) to the R&D gravity gradiometers that are exclusively developed by Lockheed Martin MS2. This support requires highly-specialized knowledge and experience available exclusively from the designer and developer of these complex instruments. In addition to the support, limited development of R&D enhancements are required as the science continues to evolve that would maximize performance of current NGA owned gravity gradiometers, providing funding is available for such enhancements.
