This Amendment to the solicitation provides the offerors with consultant recommended options to repair the elevator. Option 4: Replace the existing machine with a new DC gearless. This would be a logical option if the machine could be broken down in small enough components to be brought up on the passenger elevator. The old machine would be sawed up and taken down in pieces. The existing controls could be retained. The new machine would be warranted. Option 5: Provide new AC geared machine. This would be a good option providing all new state-of-theart microprocessor-based controls and the energy-saving variable voltage, variable frequency motor drives. However, the government does not recommend running geared machines over 450 fpm. Current contract speed is 600 fpm. Option 6: Provide new AC gearless machine.
