The Strategic Systems Programs intends to contract with Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors (LMMS2), a division of Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMC), Mitchel Field, NY for TRIDENT II (D5 and Backfit) Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Navigation Subsystem Fleet Support; Shipboard Integration Program; D5 Backfit Shipyard Installation; New Technology Sonar System Design and Prototyping; Trainer Systems Support; Engineering Refueling Overhaul Planning and Shipyard Start-up; and Logistics Support. The proposed contract will contain both United States Navy and United Kingdom Navy sponsored efforts. As the design agent, LMMS2 is the only source with the requisite design background, system knowledge and operational experience relative to the TRIDENT Navigation Subsystems capable of providing the required effort within existing cost and schedule constraints.
