The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division, (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL intends to award a sole-source firm-fixed price purchase order to Hydroid, Inc., 1 Henry Drive, Pocasset, MA 02559 for one (1) Five-day REMUS 100 Operators and Basic Maintenance Training course for a maximum of ten (10) students. The Contractor shall provide the Government with all required guides and associated materials. Training shall include operations and maintenance, as well as at sea operations. This acquisition is unsuitable for full and open competition for the following reasons: The REMUS 100 are the only fully tested, supported and fielded un-tethered two-man portable vehicles in the Navy's inventory that meet the requirements of the mission. As new engineers and scientists are added, they will need to be trained on the REMUS 100 system. Hydroid Inc. is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and is the only source for the REMUS 100 Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV) and maintains the proprietary design and data rights to the REMUS.
