The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Thermo Electron North America, Llc for ICS 6000 High Pressure Ion Chromatography System (ICS-6000 HPIC). The new Thermo ICS 6000 High Pressure Ion Chromatography System (ICS-6000 HPIC) provides stability and control for variables that might affect the quality and consistency of results. The system allows for greater flexibility in choosing the right detector / column format, and allows a wide range of configurations. The ICS-6000 HPIC has the reliability needed for consistent results from day to day and operator to operator. The columns can be used with smaller particle sizes to obtain better results. The ICS-6000 HPIC is compatible. It is unique in many ways including maturity and sophistication of the analytical software, technical superiority of the hardware, and low detection limits for the analytes of interest. Also, the Thermo parts still fit our existing Dionex parts (since Dionex belongs to Thermo Electron now).  This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
