This agreement is to provide meal service to Orientation Center for the Blind (OCB) participants at 400 Adams Street, Albany, CA 94706. A) Location/Service Area The OCB facility is located at 400 Adams Street, Albany, CA 94706. OCB is approximately 42,000 square feet of buildings, consisting of (3) three buildings. The buildings are comprised of Building (A) Resident Dormitory-2 floors; Building (B) Administration Building and Classrooms; and, Building (C) Dining Hall/Cafeteria, Conference Center and Gymnasium. Participants come to OCB from throughout the state and reside on-site in the dormitory for 12 weeks while undergoing an intensive training schedule. Training occurs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Meals are served to participants seven days a week. Participants are served Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner on weekdays. Brunch and Dinner is served on weekends and state holidays. B) Type of Service This agreement is to provide meal service. All meals shall be: ¿ Delivered to 400 Adams Street, Albany, CA ¿ Ready to eat, requiring no more than re-heating ¿ Available for special dietary needs ¿ Individually packaged with labels indicating production date, expiration date and contents. ¿ Quantity of meals requested may vary depending on need, participant order and/or holidays. Monthly, there shall be a written menu, approved by a Registered dietician, provided to OCB. The menu will be available by the 15th of the prior month. From the monthly menu, OCB will choose the meals to be delivered. Any changes to the monthly menu need to be conveyed to OCB staff within 48 hours of the change. Weekly, OCB will order meals that will be delivered to the campus at 400 Adams Street, Albany, CA 94706. Meal service consists of the following: Weekday ¿ meal service consists of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Weekend/state holiday ¿ meal service consists of brunch and dinner. Meals must meet the following criteria: ¿ Individually packaged ¿ Meal plan is prepared under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian ¿ Be available for special diets, with as little advance notice as 24 hours, and may include: o Gluten free o Lactose free o No added salt o Halal Diet o Renal Diet o Low carbohydrate o Vegetarian and/or vegan o No nuts or nut products (nut oil) o Other diets as ordered. ¿ Meals are to be prepared using healthy cooking methods and include the following components: o ¿ cup grain o ¿ cup vegetable o 4 oz of protein (chicken, fish, turkey, pork, beef and vegetarian) Meals will include the following: Breakfast Meal Packaged meal which includes meat protein (2 oz), eggs (4 oz), starch (2 servings). Lunch Meal Wrapped Sandwich or Wrap of the Day (3 oz meat, lettuce, mayo, 2 slices of wheat bread), chips or snack cracker. Dinner Meal Packaged meal which includes protein (4 oz), vegetable (1/2 cup) and starch or grain (1/2 cup). Brunch Meal Packaged meal which includes meat protein (2 oz), eggs (4 oz) starch (2 servings). The maximum order number for any meal will be 20. OCB anticipates ordering breakfast and weekend/state holiday meals year-round, except for thanksgiving and Christmas/new year holiday breaks. Weekday dinner meals will be ordered on an as-needed basis. The state makes no guarantee on the number of meals to be ordered. There will be times when no meal service is needed, i.e., school breaks or between cohort groups.
