PR-ORD-15-01392/RFQ-RT-15-00063: Illumina MiSeq and cBot Instruments Service Contract Intent to Sole Source: NAICS Code: 811219 Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Illumina, Incorporated for Illunima MiSeq and cBot Instruments Service Contract. Illumina is the manufacturer of the MiSeq and cBot instruments and therefore has the required expertise to ensure proper operation of the instrument. Illumina has exclusive rights to the software, hardware, and operating licenses for this equipment. It would therefore be very difficult to maintain proper functioning of the instrument without Illumina support. In addition, it is not possible to identify additional sources for hardware or software replacements in the event of a problem. Therefore, the EPA believes Illumina, Inc. is the only source capable of providing the above referenced service contract for MiSeq and cBot Instruments. The circumstance permitting is FAR 6.302-1 ¿Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements¿. All interested parties who believe they can provide the required services should fully explain their capabilities and qualifications in writing within 10 days from the date of this announcement and provide itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible.
