The NINDS Electromyography Section (EMGS) performs a large volume of EMG studies for the Intramural Clinical Programs at the NIH Clinical Center. These EMG studies are done for diagnostic purposes to facilitate patient management and safety monitoring or as part of protocol mandated evaluation of subjects. Since the demand is high and time sensitive, EMGS maintain two EMG machines with interchangeable capabilities so that there is no interruption of service.
One of EMGS's existing Viking EDX EMG systems' malfunctions and has compatibility issues with newer software and printer drivers. To maintain continuous service to the NIH Clinical Center, EMGS requires a new Viking EDX EMG system on a sole source basis to maintain compatibility with the remaining system as well as established EMG reports and set-ups.
