The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is seeking to identify potential contractors that have the capability to provide construction services to dredge 1,500 cubic yards of sand from the Cheboygan River Inlet, at Mullet Lake. Mullet Lake is located in Cheboygan, Michigan). The contractor would be dredging to a maximum depth of five feet below low water datum. It should be noted that the depth of the dredge area is currently between 2 to 5 feet in depth. As a result, the project may require specialized equipment.
Material dredged from the Inlet would be transported to a transfer site and then loaded to trucks to be placed at an upland site located approximately 10 miles from the dredge area. Both the transfer site and placement site would be provided by the government. The transfer site would be located within the vicinity of the dredging operations.
All equipment needed to complete the project would be the responsibility of the contractor. All dredging must be completed from the marine-base plant or platforms.
This project is expected to be solicited in early spring 2018. Physical work is planned to begin late spring 2018.
The estimated cost of construction is between $100,000.00-250,000.00.
Requests from Contractor:
• Briefly describe how dredging would be accomplished.
• Type(s) of equipment that would be used.
