The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, VA intends to award a Sole Source contract to Rheinmetal Waffe Munition, GmbH, Branch Nico, Trittau, Germany, to develop, test, and incorporate an Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) for propulsion Insensitive Munitions (IM) improvements into the Technical Data Packages of the existing Mk281 Practice Grenade, Mod 0, DODIC BA12, and Mod 1, DODIC BA21.Rheinmetall Nico Branch is currently producing these grenades for the Marine Corps under sole source contract No. M67854-06-D-1027. Rheinmetall Nico holds the patent rights to this item and possesses unique knowledge, tooling, and production line capabilities to perform the tests, manufacture test samples, perform First Article Testing, and transition the technology to production. Estimated contract award date is 10 April 2009. Estimated total contract value is $3,900,000. Work will be required to begin within 30 days after contract award. Duration of the contract will be thirteen (13) months. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 332993, Ammunition (Except Small Arms) Manufacturing. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Responses received by 13 February will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open basis is solely within the discretion of the Government. All contractors who provide goods/services to the DoD must be registered in the Central Contractor Register (CCR).
