THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES.

Naval Medical Center San Diego anticipates making a sole source award under statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c) (1) and FAR 13.106-1(b) (1) (i), only one responsible source, with:
Biomet Microfixation, Inc.

The objective of the sole source award is to procure Biomet Sternal Plates and Screws. Sole Source Justification is based on the following:
• Devices must be compatible with government owned instrumentation: SternaLock Primary Closure System. Instrumentation has been designed specifically for use with the system of implants requested.
• Devices must be Titanium
• Screws must be designed to lock into sternal plates and sit in the cancellous bone of the sternum to grip the bone and prevent back-out of the screw
• Plates must be designed with double-sided screw placement so that the plate can be contoured to the patient's anatomy and so that the surgeon can properly place it

The NAICS code for the requirement is 339112.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. Information received by 4:00 PM Pacific Time on October 31, 2016 may be considered by the Government. Responses shall be submitted to Elizabeth Sanders at [email protected].
