Under Statutory Authority ร‚ยง 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), the Government anticipates entering into sole source procurement negotiations with Becton, Dickinson and Company of San Jose, CA for preventative maintenance services for the Bactec MGIT 960 Mycobaterial Detection System at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. The anticipated contract will have a base 12 months and four 12 month option periods. The above authority is citied and justification made based upon the determination that the Government's minimum needs can best be satisfied by services available from one source. The requested preventative maintenance and repair services are available from only one source. This announcement is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1 and FAR 13.106-1(b). Other persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by May 27, 2014, 4:00 PM CST. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all interest received on or before May 27, 2014 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
