This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.

The United States Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, based on compatibility with existing Government owned Gatan equipment. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with Gatan Inc., 780 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA 15086, for preventive maintenance, repairs and pre-inspection of government-owned Gatan electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and digital micrograph system.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency if received by the closing date and time of this notice. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
