The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Laboratory of Biochemistry (LB) intends to procure on a sole-source basis with Bruker BioSpin Corp., 15 Fortune Drive, Billerica, MA 01821, for service and maintenance of a Bruker Biospin 500 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer. The service and maintenance agreement will be for a 1year period. The equipment is used in studies of the structure and folding of proteins. All parts and items used must be compatible with the existing system to maintain operability and consistency in research studies. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.5 to use simplified procedures for commercial acquisitions. Bruker Biospin is the only known source that can provide the maintenance required. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities.
