The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to acquire on a sole source basis from Pitney Bowes, 7630 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22102 a third shift (4 PM - 12:30 AM, Monday through Friday) technician to service Pitney Bowes mail processing equipment located at SSA's National Computer Center (NCC) in Woodlawn Maryland for the period April 2002 through October 31, 2002. Because this technician is supplementing an existing onsite workforce of Pitney Bowes technicians providing (in total) 24-hour daily service coverage at the NCC, Pitney Bowes appears to be the only firm capable of providing the required services. This is an announcement of SSA's intent to issue an open market order using Simplified Acquisition procedures to Pitney Bowes for the services. Any literature or information submitted as a response to this notice must contain enough information attesting to the capability of the vendor to meet SSA's requirement. Respondents should refer to Pitney Bowes Third Shift Technician. SSA will not issue a solicitation. SSA will not respond to requests for solicitation copies and will not pay for information received in response to this announcement. If SSA does not receive an acceptable response to this announcement within 5 days of its posting, it will issue a purchase order to Pitney Bowes for the service.
