The Naval Air Systems Command, Air Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA-209), intends to award a sole source firm fixed price contract to BAE Systems, 164 Totowa Road, Wayne, NJ 07474-0975, for software change implementation, data analysis and assessment and evaluation of problems associated with implementing an AutoCal function in the 1553 interface for the Low Probability of Intercept Altimeter. Services shall also include an assessment of the Production Reliability Acceptance Tests by reviewing testing procedures at Government testing facilities; test and evaluation support for ground and flight-testing, safety of flight letter and Version Description Document for any software changes. Acceptance Test Procedures shall be modified accordingly. Services are to be completed no later than 31 December 2003. BAE is the is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the LPIA units which was previously competed by the Naval Air Systems Command and is the only firm with the necessary knowledge, data, equipment, and experience to perform this effort within the required time frame.
