This is a one-time, sole-source purchase for fourteen (14) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare parts from KBA-Notasys (KBA).

These OEM spare parts are required in supporting the maintenance of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP)'s five (5) complex and highly integrated currency production/manufacturing equipment consisting of the following:

• AFX Inspection System
• GTS Banding Station (G1075 & G1090 model)
• Super ORLOF Press / Thermoregulation
• LEPE Stripe Banding
• I-10 Printing Press

KBA is the manufacturer of the above equipment used by BEP for the production and manufacturing of U.S. currency. As such, only KBA can provide the OEM spare parts listed in the attachment. The BEP's decision to award a one-time, sole source purchase order with KBA is to ensure continuous and uninterrupted operation of the currency manufacturing through proper maintenance of the above equipment. BEP determined that the only way to attain this goal is to use OEM spare parts manufactured by KBA.

The BEP intends to sole-source this requirement to KBA. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 333244, Printing Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing. The Product Service Code is 3610, Printing, Duplicating and Bookbinding Equipment.

This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. If you feel your firm can provide all of the OEM spare parts listed in the attachment, please submit a capabilities statement by 12:00 PM EST, March 29, 2019. You must state that your firm will be able to provide all of the spare parts listed (no partial). The decision not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
