This acquisition is being conducted on a sole-source basis pursuant to the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c), in accordance with FAR 6.302-1- "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements."
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) manufactures US Currency Bank Notes. Part of the manufacturing process requires use of highly technical and proprietary systems. In order to make the required graphic software upgrades, BEP requires a contractor to provide software, maintenance, and support services. Performance of these services requires compatibility with the existing BEP IT Engraving Infrastructure. The established supporting infrastructure heavily incorporates the proprietary property of the manufacturer, KBA NotaSys SA. Therefore, in order to guarantee compatibility it is necessary to procure these services directly from KBA NotaSys SA.
