The USDA National Veterinary Services Laboratory Ames, IA, intends to award procurement of a Luminex 200 System with xPONENT 3.1 to Luminex Corporation. The Luminex 200 System is compatible with our existing control cabinets, software and other equipment. This ongoing testing is used in the screening of NVSL owned specific pathogen free (SPF) chicken and turkey flocks, used in the production of reference materials (RM), by Diagnostic Virology Laboratory (DVL-PTR). The standard operating procedures used in the production of RM are accredited by ISO17034. The Luminex 200 System with xPONENT 3.1 is also compatible and recommended for the screen assay Multiplexed Fluorometric ImmunoAssay (MFIA) which is the assay used for screening SPF poultry flocks at NVSL. Luminex 200 System with xPONENT 3.1 works in conjunction with the existing Luminex 200 accessories. Maintaining the compatible with our existing systems shared between both DVL and DBL units will allow for large reagent production for use in potency testing and high throughput diagnostic testing. The purchase determination is based on past similar purchases, the requirement to maintain consistency in reagents used and ability to continue use of product approved for use in existing laboratory equipment and testing. Establishing a new source for this product has been unsuccessful due to the proprietary nature of this equipment and material. The cost has been determined fair and reasonable based on current technical knowledge of fair market value. The anticipated purchase order value to Luminex Corporation is $55,000.00. This is not a request for quotation. However, all interested parties may contact the Contract Officer listed below. Sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can obtain/provide the testing capabilities and turnaround capability required for this project.
