The Town of Weston will receive bids until 11:00 A.M., local time, Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Department of Public Works, 190 Boston Post Road By-Pass, Weston, MA 02493, for Merriam Street Sidewalk Construction. Sealed bids on bid forms provided shall be mailed or delivered with the designation âMerriam Street Sidewalk Constructionâ on the envelope. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the place and time designated above. Project Description: Work includes construction of approximately 2,700 linear feet of 5-foot-wide bituminous sidewalk, between Sunset Road and Westland Rd on the west side of Merriam Street, as well as repair and reconstructing approximately 1,200 linear feet of dry and mortared stone wall. The project also includes construction of a 76-foot-long and 5-foot-wide Timber Boardwalk with wood piles across the wetland at Cherry Brook, and associated concrete block retaining wall. This project includes several tree protection and removal activities. No deposit is required for these documents. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the amount of five percent (5%) of the value of the bid, as required by General Laws, Chapter 30, Section 39M as amended. The bid deposit may be in the form of a bid bond, cash, a certified check, a treasurerâs or cashierâs check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, payable to the Town of Weston. Bids shall be made on the basis of the Minimum Wage Rates as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 149, Sections 26 to 27D inclusive, of Massachusetts General Laws. Performance and labor and materials or payment bonds will be required from the successful bidder. The bidder agrees that its bid shall be good and may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 days, Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays excluded, after the opening of the bids. The Town of Weston reserves the right to reject any and all bids if it be in the public interest to do so.
