Missouri Psychiatric Center - Infrastructure and ED Observation Renovation (CP230481) IDue to continued growth of emergency department volume, MU Health Care has identified a need to add sixteen (16) Emergency Department rooms to support future volume projections. Volume projections indicate an anticipated total of 99,698 visits annually by FY27, equating to a need for 77 total ED rooms. The proposed project meets this goal by providing 16 additional ED beds along with enabling infrastructure. The new 16 beds would be in the central portion of MPC 1st floor, adjacent and with direct access to the existing Emergency Department. The infrastructure component of the project entails a new rooftop air handling unit and generator and was originally planned as a separate project. Supply chain delays have greatly impacted lead times (55 weeks for AHU and 70 weeks for generator), thus shifting the construction timeline and making it now parallel to the 16-bed expansion project. As a result, it is recommended that these two projects be combined to streamline schedule, mitigate risk, and lower cost. Proposed Improvements: The project will renovate approximately 7,750 SF of the central portion of the 1st Floor of MPC building, to increase the ED by 16 beds including procedure space, support space and a centralized work station. This project will add incremental bds to accommodate an upward trending need for hospital emergency services. renovations that will accommodate an upward trending need for hospital emergency services. The proposed project scope also includes code required infrastructure upgrades as well as improvements to medical gas, domestic water distribution systems, and chilled water pumps. A new generator and Emergency Power System included in the infrastructure upgrade meets requirements for a critical care hospital. Base Estimate & Alternates: $6,375,000.00
