The US Forest Service, Chugach National Forest, intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order using simplified acquisition procedures to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to map vegetation types using existing aerial and satellite imagery for the purpose of developing landscape assessments of moose habitat on the Glacier and Seward Ranger Districts. Analyze the associations between moose GPS movement data and Placer Valley vegetation characteristics. Collect browse data at habitat enhancement sites and assimilate data into the FRESH Moose Habitat Model. Analyze the associations between LANDFIRE vegetation mapping and the Placer Valley vegetation map. Identify and map high priority areas for future habitat enhancement projects in the Placer Valley. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has the foremost responsibility and authority for the management of wildlife species in the State of Alaska. In addition, Alaska Department of Fish and Game owns the proprietary datasets associated with this work.
