The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Affymetrix INC, Santa Clara, CA 95051, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. 1) # 901231- (3 kit) Mouse Genome 430 2.0 Array and Kit sufficient for 30 reactions; 2) #902019 - (1 kit) GeneChip Mirna 3.0 Array 30pk. 3) Freight and handling charges. The GeneChip Arrays are used to perform experiments that measure gene expression changes in the Mouse, Rat and Human genomes. These Arrays are the only arrays that can be used in the Affymetrix Eukaryotic GeneChip System for an ongoing research project. Ordering from another source would compromise on-going experiments and compromise the integrity of data. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Contracting Specialist at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Affymetrix INC. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
