MSFC will be negotiating with The Autry Museum of the American West (Autry Museum) for the purchase of a one-time fee to preserve for the future, the use of certain collections of Federally-owned archeological artifacts, specimens, and associated records. The proposed contract with Autry Museum will house and maintain an archeological collection, and shall recognize the benefits which will accrue to it, the public and scientific interests for study and other educational purposes. Market research was not conducted because the Autry Museum is the sole museum that obtains, houses, and maintains the Native American artifacts that were excavated within the Los Angeles County region. The Federally-owned archeological artifacts related to this purchase have been excavated within this same region. Based on MSFC's ongoing need, local archeological opinion is that these artifacts would be most appropriately housed within the same location as similar Native American collections currently curated at the Autry Museum.
