Introduction: The Naval Medical Research Unit No. 6, Bacteriology Department, engages in research on infectious diarrhea as a major threat to deployed military forces worldwide. Also in the post-infectious functional gastrointestinal sequelae and its impact of health-related quality of life has not been studied in reservist populations.  The Bacteriology Department in NAMRU-6 has the need to provide maintenance to MALTI-TOF as we use it to analyze samples from GEIS funded studies among them NAMRU6.2017.0012. Using MALDI-TOF technology allows accurate identification at the species level of most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains.

Background: BRUKER is MALDI-TOF’s manufacturer and only they provide the maintenance required. MALDI-TOF instrument is required by Bacteriology Department to continue research on Antimicrobial Susceptibility.

General Requirements: The requested service will allow the Bacteriology Department to perform several tests for Antimicrobial Susceptibility in bacterial isolates obtained under the ongoing research studies. 

Performance Requirements: Timely communication must be maintained until supplies are delivered. If the requested purchase is not provided in a timely manner, notification of the delay, the reason for the delay, and an estimated time of delivery must be provided.
