The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to the University of Maryland/Baltimore for the acquisition of Nanobodies against Clostridium Difficile Toxins. The Nanobodies are the expressed reactive tips (hyper variable regions) of camel heavy chain antibodies which have been developed by Dr. Hanping Feng's group at the University of Maryland. The Nanobodies developed against clostridium difficile toxins A and B react with the ttoxins and are unique in its kind. The Nanobodies were developed to bind with high specificity and avidity to these toxins and the use of such reagents will provide a rugged and easily reproducible test for Clostridium difficile toxins detection and quantification. Tjhe nanobodies are the only reagents that can help to optomie Cdiff method development in our laboratory. The contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capacity to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within two (2) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
