This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for the contractor to provide NOAA National Marine Fisheries Alaska Region up to 25 necropsies in support of the Alaska Marine Mammal Stranding Network per the attached statement of work (SOW) in the request for quote RFQ NMFS AKR-12-0718 prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 13.

The objective of this contract between National Marine Fisheries Service, Alaska Region (NMFS AKR) and the contractor is to conduct systematic, thorough on-site necropsies on stranded and harvested cetaceans and pinnipeds to document cause of death (identify human interactions, such as fishing gear entanglements, boat strikes, trauma, and gunshot wounds); monitor for epidemic and endemic diseases and toxic materials in the environment; gather baseline life history information; and gain insights into the health of our marine mammals as individuals and at the population level in Alaska. This is a small business set aside. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this procurement is 541940.

NOAA NMFS Alaska Regional Acquisition Division, requires that all contractors doing business with this Acquisition Office be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) as of October 1, 2003.
