The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a limited source firm fixed price purchase order to Fraklin Young International, Government Scientific Source, Inc., or Perkin Elmer Health Science, Inc. in order to acquire PerkinElmer NexION 2000 ICP-MS mass spectrometer (part # N8150045) and necessary accessories to install, control, and operate the spectometer for our already validated laboratory method. The NexION 2000 spectrometer is peculiar to only one manufacturer, PerkinElmer. Components on this aquisition that require OEM part numbers for continuity in lab with current validated methods and equipment include N8150045, N0200193, N8150063, and N8150036. Components that could be substituted with alternate part numbers of equivalent characteristics include N8150391 and N0777040 for ongoing research continuity. The three companies listed above are the only known vendors who distribute these products. This contract action is for supplies and services, which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only three sources under the authority of FAR 8.4 and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within six (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
