NOTICE OF INVITATION FOR BIDS AUKE LAKE RAILING REPLACEMENT, PHASE II Project No.: 2017-03a Electronically submitted bids, in single copy, for the Auke Lake Railing Replacement, Phase II project will be received by the University of Alaska, until Thursday, 2:00 p.m., May 13, 2021, at the email address designated herein at which time bids will be publicly read aloud via audio conference audio conference number (907) 796-6600, toll-free. The meeting ID, and passcode will be provided through Notification from AEPlans 48 hours prior to bid opening to parties who are registered with AEPlans. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Project consists of removal and replacement of exterior guardrails on existing walkways on the University of Alaska Southeast campus in Juneau. The existing guardrail is a 3x12 wood cap supported by 2x6 and 2x3 balusters. The new railing is a pre-manufactured stainless steel system. This project completes the remaining railing replacement in the central campus core. The work consists of base bid scope and two additive alternates. Additive Alternate No. 1 - Additional railing portions generally adjacent to the Whitehead Building. Additive Alternate No. 2 - Additional railing portions generally adjacent to the Mourant Building. BIDDERS ARE ADVISED THAT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA REVIEWS AND ACCEPTS ALTERNATE PRODUCTS OR SYSTEMS PRIOR TO BID OPENING. SUBSTITUTIONS AFTER AWARD ARE LIMITED. SEE INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS AND THE GENERAL CONDITIONS. Funding for this project is available. All bid documents are available in electronic format. They may be viewed online and downloaded without charge and without deposit from www.aeplans.com. AEPlans software and website technical assistance is available at (888) 320-3032 (toll free). Bidders must register through the website to be notified of addenda. Printed copies of bid documents may be ordered from reprographic companies through the website or by contacting a reprographer directly. Downloaded files may also be printed on the planholder’s own equipment. Addenda will be posted on the AEPlans website. The bidder is responsible for periodically checking the website. A PRE-BID CONFERENCE will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 10:00 AM on the deck constituting the Base Bid at 11066 Auke Lake Way, University of Alaska Southeast, in Juneau, Alaska and simultaneously by audio conference at (907) 796-6600, toll-free. The audio conference meeting ID# and passcode will be sent by notification through AEPlans 48 hours before the pre-bid to parties who are registered with AEPlans. All interested bidders are invited but not required to participate in the pre-bid conference. The audio conference will be followed by a site visit for those attending in person. A SITE VISIT, verified by the UAS Project Manager, is REQUIRED prior to submitting bid to ensure that bidders are familiar with the quality of worksmanship that must be matched. Bidders may attend the site visit either after the pre-bid or make separate arrangement with the UAS Project Manager. Bid security is required with each bid. State law requires a bid to be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible "Alaska Bidder" after a five percent (5%) preference and Alaska Products Preference have been applied.
