NOTICE - The Geneva Community Unit School District 304 Board of Education is accepting bids only from mechanical contractors for a boiler replacement project at Geneva Middle School South in Geneva Illinois. The mechanical contractor will act as the project general contractor. Bids will not be accepted from firms other than mechanical contractors. The scope of work period includes providing all labor, materials, machinery, tools, equipment, and other means of construction necessary for completion of the work indicated in the Bid Documents including, but not necessarily limited to, the following: replacement of existing hot water boilers, hydronic accessories, thermal storage tank, replacement of domestic hot water system, and all related pumps, hydronic piping, plumbing piping, insulation, heat exchangers, exhaust fan, gas piping, flues, intake hood, ductwork, domestic water heater intake and exhaust flue piping, drains, air separator, expansion tanks, variable frequency drives, electrical power, building automation controls, concrete equipment curbs, cutting and patching concrete slabs and cutting and patching roof penetrations & flashings. The work site is Geneva Middle School South, 1415 Viking Drive, Geneva, IL 60134. The on-site construction is scheduled to commence during the 2021 summer break starting approximately on Monday, June 7, 2021 with a Substantial Completion date of Monday, August 9, 2021. Liquidated damages apply to the Substantial Completion date. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Geneva Middle School South, 1415 Viking Drive, Geneva, IL 60134. Meet at the main office. A Bidder's failure to attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting will be grounds for rejection of the Contractor's bid. Required prequalification documentation listed in the Project Manual must be submitted in Adobe PDF format to the District's Architect via the email address listed above on or before 5:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. A Bidder's failure to submit the required prequalification documentation will be considered grounds for rejection of the Contractor's bid. Sealed bids must be received by Mr. Scott Ney at Geneva Community School District 304, District Office, 227 N. Fourth Street, Geneva, IL 60134 on or before 4:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. The sealed bids will then be publicly opened and read. It is anticipated that the contracts will be awarded by the Board of Education at their regular meeting on January 11, 2021. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Base Bid. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish construction performance and labor and material payment bonds in the full amount of the final subcontract Contract Sum. Contractor shall not pay less than the prevailing rates of wages to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics performing work under this contract, and shall comply with the requirements of the Illinois Wages of Employees on Public Works Act (820 ILCS 130/1-12). The Contractor will be required to submit electronic copies of their certified payrolls with each application for payment using the Illinois Department of Labor's Prevailing Wage Portal. The Geneva Community Unit School District 304 Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, reject nonconforming bids, reject conditional bids, waive irregularities in the bidding procedures, or to accept any bid that, in its sole opinion, best serves the interests of the School District.
